Because Together It Can Be Done

TURNING OBSTACLES INTO OPPORTUNITIES

Who We Are

Every year, The Middle Atlantic Blind Golf Association Junior Golf Program holds monthly outings and clinics for boys and girls age 7-21 who are blind or visually impaired. All skill levels are welcome, and the clinics are free.

Sponsored by The Middle Atlantic Blind Golf Association, the Junior Golf Program provides each player with a PGA teacher who will give lessons at a golf course near players’ houses. They also provide the player with golf clubs, golf balls and a golf bag.

How We Do It!

“Our goal is to teach kids golf, but also to provide a fun-filled day for our families,” says Mike Molloy, Program Director of the Junior Program. “Our success is measured in smiles.”

The Junior Blind Golfers have been coming to the Mad Golfer range for the past few years. A wonderfully run organization where the day flows seamlessly. Kids and adults alike have a wonderful time communicating with each other, and enjoying pizza while learning the game of golf. I highly recommend considering this organization and I am looking forward to their visit again next year.

I was just about 10 years old when I first held a golf club at Edgmont County Club and was introduced to the Mid Atlantic Blind Golf Association, MABGA. I was taught that blind golf is a team sport! It’s always our pleasure at Valley View Golf to team up with the Junior Blind Golf Program. 50 years later, I am blessed to be still associated with such an incredible organization. It’s a privilege being a part of a group such as this with its youthful enthusiasm, dedication in its circle of volunteers, in a sport we all love!

The Philadelphia Section PGA has been a long supporter of the Junior Blind Golfers Association, and with the excellent work that Mike Molloy has been doing for the organization. Our PGA Professionals are proud to work alongside the Junior Golfers to assist them in learning to play and enjoy the game of golf for a lifetime.

The MABGA brings golf to young people that otherwise would probably never have tried the game. However, far greater than giving blind and visually impaired youth opportunities and access to golf, MABGA develops relationships, gives purpose and creates a fun learning atmosphere for the students, parents and instructors who participate in this wonderful program. Anyone who seeks positive reinforcement in their lives will find a greater vision beyond sightedness through this program.

I have been involved with The Junior Mid Atlantic Blind Golf Association since 2006. The program is truly wonderful. Every year our event is the highlight of the calendar for all involved. The smiles shared at these events are something I will never forget. Mike Molloy and the rest of the coaches are top notch. They sincerely care! Each student leaves with a new found sense of confidence and self-accomplishment, no matter how they performed on the course. That is what makes this program so special! I am so happy to have been a part of this program for so long. It has truly changed my life!
